Join Lakbay.Net as we take you on an unforgettable trip around the Philippines! But first, brush up on a few basics:
ISLAND INFORMATION
The Philippines is a diverse tropical nation consisting of more than 7,000 islands, 880 of which are inhabited. It is divided into 3 major areas: Luzon, the largest island; the central or Visayas islands; and Mindanao, the second largest island in the south.
WEATHER
Temperatures in the Philippines are generally tropical, from 75-95°F or 24-35°C, with mid-day summer highs over 100°F and 37ºC. December through February are cool while March through May are hot. The rainy season is from June to November. Much of the Philippines is in the "typhoon belt" and experiences typhoons and flash floods especially during this time.
WHAT TO WEAR
It is best to wear light, natural fiber, and loose fitting garments. However, practical clothing such as shorts and a blouse or T-shirt is recommended especially while traveling. The basic rule is: dress comfortably but decently.
If you are going to the mountain areas, a jacket or sweater will be useful. If you are going on a hike, bring a hat, sunscreen or sunblock, and an insect repellant.
When visiting churches or mosques or Muslim areas, wear a knee-length skirt or pants. Skimpy tops and shorts should be avoided.
