Angono
San Clemente Parish
The town of Angono traces its foundation to 1766.
Heritage Features: The church facade incorporates features of an older church. The town is better known for its artists; many gravitated to Angono because of the national artist Carlos "Botong" Francisco. Among the artists whose studios are open to the public are Nemiranda, Jose Blanco, and Digon Vocalan who runs Balaw-balaw Restaurant and Art Center. Angono is also the home of Lucio San Pedro, national artist for music, and founder of the Angono Symphonic Band. The band plays at the Easter Salubong, the Easter morning procession that recalls Jesus meeting with the Virgin Mary. The fluvial procession in honor of San Clemente is a major event.
